Compulsory Kit

Please note that we do not have a compulsory kit list. However, please be prepared that
in the event of very unseasonal weather you may be asked to carry upper body cover e.g. minimum being a showerproof jacket. Please be mindful of this and check the local weather before race day to ensure you have the necessary kit with you before travelling. You will also be advised at the race briefing on race day on the compulsory kit.

Fuel Stations at the Hoka One One Winter Trail Half Marathon

You are not required to carry your own fuel for the event, but we recommend that runners ensure that they are happy with their own personal fuel requirements prior to the race.
There will be two feed/fuel stations available on race day. Nutrition and hydration needs and requirements will be provided courtesy of Power Bar UK, where you will have the option of gels, wafers, electrolyte drink, sweets and bananas.

The Route

The race will start at 10.00AM.
The route will be marked with BLUE arrows sponsored By HOKA One One and RED tape to keep you on track. For piece of mind there will also be marshals on route to guide you.
Please find below the link to the official HOKA One One Winter Trail Route measured by Garmin.

Route low-down

The first 3 miles are flat and fast before you take your first hill in to the forestry. Between mile 10 and 11 there are some narrow trails and tacks - these areas will be fully marked and will be well marshalled. We advise you to please take care and be mindful of other runners at this point. Its all fun from mile 11 onwards - downhill into Margam Country Park.

Additionally we will have some large 'CAUTION - STEEP DESCENT ' boards on display too; indicating that extra care should be taken by runners in these areas, especially if we have had wet weather before and/or during the race.

PLEASE NOTE the route has been measured with more than one GPS system, the average was 13.4 miles. Let’s remember this is trail running and not road running, therefore the length is always there or thereabouts!
